I finally graduated from university, I graduated a year later than my class mates, so I had their inputs into what I should wear for my graduation ceremony.
I have had the shoes for some time, so I knew they were really comfortable, and the heel height makes them easy to walk in, remember you have to walk up to a stage without falling head over heels. Finding my dress took a lot of time, I knew I didn't want a blue dress as blue is Brunels University colour. I went for a peach lace dress, which I know I will wear again.
Do wear a dress of a decent length. This is your graduation not a night out partying, there were far too many girls with barely bum covering dresses!
Don't wear a revealing dress, as said above this is your graduation, save the skimpy outfits for a night club.
Do wear shoes you are walk in, and that are comfortable. You will most probably be in them for a long time.
Don't wear clumpy shoes; the gown is going to make you look boxy enough without you adding big big ole odd nails to it.
Do take bobby pins with you, so you can pin the graduation cap to your hair. To ensure there is no slipping / popping off / or going lopsided.
Do have natural makeup, your graduation photo will always be with you, and you want to look timeless.
Do make sure your nails look their best, you will be holding a certificate and your nails will be on show. I went for a classic French manicure
