nabotypography | Book Recommendation | Meggs' History of Graphic Design

nabotypography book recommendation.
Meggs' History of Graphic Design, is such an amazing book for any design lover / student. The book is over 600 pages long, and it is crammed with loads of useful information.

Megg's History of Graphic Design by Philip Meggs, and Alston Purvis and can be bought from Amazon.

And I have just noticed that there is also an ebook available to buy to, which (as usual) is much cheaper than the hardback book. But I would only suggest getting the ebook if you have a coloured e-reader, or tablet, or also if you just want to view it on your computer. Because there are lots of lovely images in the book, and you wouldn't want to view them on a black and white e-reader. The ebook can be found here.

The book has lot of useful timelines of events starting with cave paintings in Lascaux, all the way up to the present times.

The topics covered include the invention of writing, and letter forms, how books were printed, typography, and design. The information is really detailed and broad, but even so I find the writing style really easy to read, and what is really great is that there are a lot of images through out the book. And they always help and aid in understanding things.

The price of the book is a bit steep, but when you think about it, it is an okay price, because the book literally has everything in it!

I think this would be a really nice gift for someone, and anyone who is interested in typography and design will love it.
