How To Use Script Fonts Effectively | Dos And Don'ts

In a  previous post I listed Beautiful Script Fonts - Free and Paid and this post will be on how to use script fonts effectively.

1. Only use one script font; do not mix and match. Don't be tempted to use more than one script font, it won't look right, and it will not look consistent, and the writing will not flow. Find the script font you are most happy with and keep to that one font.

2. Don't have too much text in a script font, script fonts should be used sparingly as sometimes they can be hard to read if there is a too much text.

3. Don't use all upper case! Script fonts are not designed to be used this way, as with most script fonts the upper case letters are more decorative.

4. Don't be afraid to adjust spacing, sometimes with script fonts the letters can over lap each other too much, in one area that this is most common is with the ascenders and descenders, to solve this increase the leading. (Do check out my typography terms poster).
